The Salte Library Bukchon in Seoul is a captivating fusion of fragrance, literature, and spatial storytelling, offering a unique sensory experience. This innovative project by Niiiz Design Lab challenges the traditional retail environment by intertwining scent and written narratives, creating an immersive architectural journey. The library's design revolves around the concept of 'NOTE', blending the layered structure of perfume composition with the act of writing, resulting in a spatial sequence that unfolds like a narrative's chapters. The exterior maintains a restrained and minimalist expression, contrasting with the immersive interior, where visitors encounter an installation referencing salt and books, material metaphors for scent and language. The main display area features a transparent circular fixture inspired by an open book, showcasing approximately fifty fragrance-related products and their literary descriptions. The use of reflective mirror surfaces on the ceiling and walls enhances the space's openness and airiness, while the strategic layout guides visitors from scent sampling to a reflective reading of the descriptions. The library's core concepts, salt, books, and literature, are expressed through innovative materials, such as stacks of transparent books on white sand with artists' manuscript papers scattered across the floor. The corridor features a curated display of books, guestbooks, and handwritten notes from Korean authors, further intertwining scent and writing as forms of memory and personal documentation.
